Here is how the procedure will be conducted after you have made an appointment!
What are dental implants?
Dental implants are an easy way for dentists to fix broken teeth by replacing the roots of the teeth. It provides a strong foundation for permanent teeth or dentures and it is carefully made to match your natural tooth colour. Dental implants can improve the appearance of your teeth, it can improve your speech, it can make your teeth sit more comfortable in your mouth, it can improve the way you eat and make it easier, it can also improve oral health, and give you an overall confidence boost.
How is the procedure conducted?
The dental implant procedure is fairly simple and very successful if the implants are maintained correctly. The first thing that is going to happen during your first appointment with us is that you are going to be orally examined. We have a team of dental professionals who will be able to deduce where the dental implants should be placed and why you need them. We will then develop a special treatment plan for you that coincides with why you are to receive the implants. By looking at the plan we can precisely figure out the form of the implant itself.
Next we will insert a tooth root implant which will be placed into the bone socket of the missing tooth. The jaw bone will have to heal which will cause the implant to secure itself safely inside your mouth. This may take 6-12 weeks.
After this you will return so that we can insert the actual tooth implant. A small connector post will be inserted into the bonded root implant to support the tooth. Then we will make impressions of your teeth so that we can design one to fit the shape of the rest of your teeth. We will then place the implant and we may add a crown for added support. The implant will also be coloured in the same shade as the rest of your teeth to give it a very natural look.
How do I maintain my teeth after the implant?
Maintaining your teeth is easy and should be very important to you after the process. You should lay off any tough foods that might cause your tooth to break again and try to stop smoking if you are a smoker. Brush your teeth regularly and remember to floss!
